History

Rescue CenterThe government of the Republic of China (R.O.C.) has frequently inspected and confiscated the wild animals smuggled or illegally possessed since the enactment of the Bill of Wild Animals Care in 1989. Meanwhile, due to the long-run illegal animal acquisition, it is estimated that there are hundreds of foreign tigers, Malay bears, gibbons, and orangutans raised in Taiwan. This has brought along its own share of problems.

Rescue Center In recent years, many owners abandoned their pets, claiming that raising animals can be tiresome. Due to this, the Council of Agriculture of the Executive Yuan authorized the National Pingtung University of Science and Technology to establish a wildlife rescue center (hereinafter called "our center") that provides proper care, shelter, and medical treatment for these animals.
