Admission

Our institute (IWC) offers a graduate program in wildlife ecology, management and conservation, conservation medicine. Local students (citizens of Taiwan) can obtain admission through entrance examination or recommendation selection admission; overseas-Chinese and international students can be admitted to our graduate program through applications. Our program also accepts the applicants from mainland China.

Recruitment Guildline for Foreign Students Admission

  1. Foreign students are defined as those who are neither overseas-Chinese, nor citizens of Taiwan (R.O.C.).
  2. Foreign students who graduated from high schools are eligible to apply for four-year undergraduate program; students with a bachelor degree are eligible to apply for Master Programs; students with a master degree are eligible to apply for Ph.D. programs at NPUST.
  3. Those students who have been forced to drop out from any institution in Taiwan are not allowed to re-apply for admission. If any of the above violation cases is verified, the applicants' admission will be cancelled immediately. However, the applicants can be admitted to NPUST if they are qualified to take the College Entrance Examination and have passed the requirements.
  4. The available number of international students accepted by NPUST is based on the 10% of total number of international students allowed to Taiwan by the Ministry of Education each year.
  5. Applicants are required to submit the application form before March 31 (for fall semester) each year to the Office of International Affairs, NPUST with the following documents:
    1. One copy of the completed application form.
    2. One copy of diploma of the highest academic degree notarized from schools of the applicants' native country and verified by the Taiwan Overseas representative office in the country of original school (including domestic schools for foreigners, but excluding foreign schools for overseas Taiwanese). One notarized copy of the translation in English or Chinese is necessary if the original diploma is neither in English nor in Chinese.
    3. One copy of complete transcript of academic records in English or Chinese verified by the Taiwan Overseas representative office in the country of original school (the transcript must bear the stamp of the original school and be sent directly to NPUST in a sealed envelope). One notarized copy of the translation in English or Chinese is necessary if the original diploma is neither in English nor in Chinese.
    4. Two letters of recommendation.
    5. A financial statement authenticated by the Taiwan Embassy in your country.
    6. A copy of Health Certificate from hospital within the past 6 months (including HIV blood serum immunity test report).
    7. A resume (stating student's background, personal interests, strengths and weaknesses)
    8. Other documents required by each department or graduate school.

  6. Applicants should be proficient in the four skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) of Chinese or English (for English program). A language test will be held as scheduled by the school. Those who fail the test must take related language course(s) at the undergraduate level.
  7. A limited number of scholarships are awarded each year to foreign students. Students may apply for the scholarships according to the NPUST Foreign Student Scholarship Guidelines.

  10. Other expenses
    1. Dormitory: All foreign graduate students are required to stay in the dormitory. One room for four students is about US$290 per semester. However, foreign students may be awarded with waived dormitory fee upon application.
    2. Book expenses vary according to the courses taken, and students are encouraged to use the library as much as possible for their needs. Meals at the cafeterias in NPUST cost round US$150 per month, whereas having meals outside of the campus may expect to spend US$185 or more per month.
